In September 1944, the writer Louis Guilloux took part in the trial of a black American soldier in Brittany, France. The GI is sentenced to death by hanging. This affair haunted the novelist for thirty years. In 1976, he told it in a short novel: “Ok, Joe! ". He unveiled a taboo aspect of the 2nd World War: the abuses of the US army against civilian populations, racial segregation, the selective punishments US army inflicts on its soldiers. But his story goes unnoticed...
